Becky spent most of her adult life moving (34 times so far), Project Managing technology teams & platforms, supporting adult family challenges, and doing community service. At 48 she discovered art through a Janke Studios class offered via Spruill and fell in love with creating blown glass. Becky was selling work as an emerging artist out of Matt's studio when hand arthritis interrupted that path of her art journey. Spruill helped her discover fused glass with Kelly Thames and the world of collage via Chery Baird. She fought the idea that she was an artist for a long time, and only embraced the art world when she retired from technology for a couple of years and focused on art full time. She loves color, abstract work inspired by architecture and expression of emotion in collage or fused glass works.
Fused glass and collage both engage me because of the process. Individual glass pieces or collected/created papers are the heart that inspires me to start the creation process. They each involve design, experimenting with techniques, and responding to shared experiences with other artists. My current work explores texture, color and form to blend an abstract story.
