Barbara's interest in art began when she was very young. She grew up in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula where winters are long. Barbara's parents provided her with all sorts of art materials from trays of watercolors, colored pencils, clay, and even paint by number oil paintings, to keep her entertained during the long winter nights. Majoring in art was not an option, not as an elementary teacher and principal. But art was a major factor in children under her tutelage. Barbara retired in 2000, the first thing she did was sign up for art classes. She started taking 4 classes at a time, anxious to learn as much as she could as fast as she could.
I am still learning. I love doing landscapes but also enjoy the challenge of abstraction.
My art is representative and sometimes a bit abstractive.
Barbara has held several board positions at DFAA over a number of years. She has also served as the chair of the Sights & Insights Exhibition committee multiple times and we thank her for her positive and encouraging leadership. We want to thank her for all the time and energy she has dedicated to our organization!
