Born in Mobile, Alabama, Julie has a taste for the south! Her family eventually moved to the panhandle of Florida and she attended the University of Florida, graduating with a degree in graphic design. Julie was employed by an advertising agency creating newspaper ads, logos, billboards etc. After having her first child she transitioned to doing freelance work for Herff Jones. There she enjoyed creating ring designs for several sports; one for the University of Florida football team and one for the Miss Budweiser hydroplane team among other opportunities.

Since arriving in Atlanta Julie has been involved with flag design, floor cloths, home portraits, and life size caricatures as well as painting in watercolor, acrylic, oil and pastel.
She has displayed artwork in juried shows in the Atlanta and gulf coast areas where she has had some award winners!

About Julie...

I am a realist at heart and love the beach. Many of my pieces are beach and water related. I like to find the uniqueness of the setting and try to express that with my marks, colors and designs. In my abstracts, I try to present a concept and in others it is all about the moment. My children and grandchildren have inspired much of my work. And my son Peter has turned his swimming successes and travel experiences into a full time career with I AM Water Foundation - an ocean conservation and adventure travel foundation. I have worked from photos of his underwater experiences.

Julie has held several board positions at DFAA, including program chair. She was also chair of Dunwoody Fine Art Month for numerous years. We want to thank her for all the time and energy she has dedicated to our organization!
