Harriette grew up with a love for the arts. But life got busy with college, medical school, raising two sons, and a thirty four year career as a pediatrician. As she began thinking about retirement she started exploring watercolor painting and was smitten. Watercolor painting became her passion. Since retiring from her pediatric practice in 2019 Harriette has taken watercolor classes at Spruill Center for the Arts, Abernathy Art Center, on-line, and various painting workshops in the US and in Europe.
About Harriette...
During the pandemic I was able to learn from many watercolor artists online from all over the world. My work has been strongly influenced and inspired by Jean Haines, a British watercolorist. I strive to create loose, impressionistic, and atmospheric paintings. I enjoy all subject matter and have recently taken on the challenge of portraiture. I am also drawn to plein air painting, where I can be outside and paint in beautiful places. I love the process of creating a painting, watching as it appears on the paper. I want to express the beauty around me, and hope that my viewers can find their own personal meaning in my work.
