Betty can’t remember ever not creating art! She drew as soon as she learned to hold a pencil. After graduating from high school Betty attended the Kansas City Art Institute and School of Design majoring in Graphic Design. However, she ended up getting degrees in Banking and Finance and later in Accounting. After having a family and retiring from a career in banking, and a 45 year hiatus from creating art, Betty took up the pursuit once again about 6 years ago through a class at the Benson Center, and found the love was still there.
About Betty...
I usually focus on landscapes with a preference of painting in oil, but have recently started working also in acrylic and have expanded the subject matter to include people and still life. I also love to draw in graphite, focusing on people, dogs and still life.
My goal in creating art is to bring a smile to people’s faces, to make them feel good and appreciate nature, and to give them an escape from the chaos and tensions of the world. Therefore I prefer realism. I look forward to continuing creating in the future.
