Atlanta area artist, Jan Schefstad, is a painter and photographer recognized for capturing unique moments in time. Her work is a record of the light, texture, contrast and color found especially in nature. She is drawn to photograph and paint the meadows, lakes and rivers around her home and the places she visits especially in the southeastern United States.

Jan grew up in Winter Haven, Florida, and earned a BA in Fine Arts from Florida State University. She has been inspired by her mother, Joyce Hetzer, who painted portraits, and by Ann Clancy and Chery Baird, teachers at the Spruill Center. She currently lives in Johns Creek, Georgia and is always looking for the next captivating composition.

About Jan...

Although my first love is photography, I continue to explore other mediums and love abstracts as much as representational art. I am always searching for beautiful colors as well as contrast and form found in nature and man-made structures. I like a hint of mystery. janschefstad.com
