Katherine's study of art began in high school and continued through college. While her career took a different path, her interest in painting and drawing remained strong. After retiring from the corporate world, she resumed these studies by receiving instruction from recognized artists in both studio and workshop situations.
About Katherine...
The inspiration for many of my oil paintings and colored pencil drawings comes from my life long love of travel, in particular the many differences in people and places throughout the world. My work is realistic and reflects my interest in a variety of subjects. The composition, balance and color in my paintings has in part been influenced by my long time study of the art of Japanese flower arranging, Ikebana. This art form features the use of color, lines and spaces and has been described as painting with flowers. I strive to produce the harmony of these elements in my work.
